Just bought new 2008 with Navigation. I had test driven an Acura and tried out there system and it was fantastic.. so I assumed that Toyota would be good also. Dumb move...
any way I have this Navigation system and actually have opportunity to use it frequently . It works, but is cumbersome and a unpleasant experience at the best..
Is there any way to upgrade this thing to make it to at least the equivalent of a low cost stick to you window system.. ???????? or should i just stick my Garvin to the screen

Cumbersome? You are too kind!

Cumbersome is one word for it. POS is another. After many failed attempts to be even somewhat happy with the nav system in my '07 LTD, I use my $99.00 TomTom. Sometimes just for entertainment, I try to use voice recognition, but that is only to make people laugh. If I slur like I have been drinking, it is better, but still not good. Maybe I need to learn Japanese?Seriously, what a friggin joke! Anything positive from my post? Sure - I did find a really great place for the TomTom. TomToms come with a self adhesive disk for the suction cup. Guessing that your Garmin did too? I stuck mine up under the little dash shelf, just to the right of the steering. To be more precise, the TomTom blocks (partially) my view of my dash clock. Still reads the sats just fine, and almost looks "integrated" if you will. I leave the dash display set to Sirius Sat display, and pretend that it never came with the $1800.00 Nav option. P.O.S.!
