I have a 98 4runer with an ECT button by the hand break. I'm wondering what is it for and should it be normally on or normally off? Any respond is greatly appreciated..

Id leave it off, its more economical. When you turn it on the gearbox shifts at higher rpm`s to get more acceleration.
