I have an 88 VZV21 V6 Camry and bought an 89 SV25 Alltrac I4 Camry today for cheap. I'm curious if my v6, which uses the E52 tranny, could be dropped into the alltrac's transmission, which is the E56. The reason I'm curious is that there is no motor in the alltrac anyway. I know there is a lot of rewiring involved, but I'm just really curious and scoping out possibilities.

I tried searching, but everythign was a 3sgte into an alltrac, not a 2vz.

Otherwise, I'll just pick up a 140hp 3sfe like Talisman18.

I don't think so but I am gonna say DO THE 3SGTE swap!!!(as if you hadn't thought about it anyway) :D

A V6 would give the car some needed pep though. The All Tracs with 4cyl and auto are too slow for words. A magazine tested the 5 speed all trac waaay back when and got 18.8 1/4 mile. And imagine, that must have been launching it hard and shifting just right all the time. :disappoin

The reason why I can't figure out if it would work or not is the fact that the V6 5 speed hooks up to the 3sgte and so does the 3sfe 5 speed. That would lead one to think they might be compatible but I am not sure. I wish I could help out more. Your All Trac is a 5 speed or not?

The alltrac is an auto, which is dissappointing.

I don't have the car with me, since my dad's truck is out of comission for the time being and am too cheap to pay someone to tow it.

Would a celica alltrac tranny mate up to the front driveshafts and teh rear driveshaft? I'd want a manual if I were to put in such a purdey motor.

I have not done the swap of course but I have been told that it does mate up fine. It's a pretty simple swap as far as getting the engint in there is concerned. You may want to ask the guy who posted earlier what issues he came across since as far as I know, that's the only currently known alltrac 3sgte swap in the U.S. I wonder how hard it would be to get the 3vzfe to fit in there. Probably need a custom hood or soemthing. A 3vzfe All Trac would be pretty cool though.

I'm inclined to believe that a 2vz would fit since they're the same tranny series. I know that the E153 solara tranny mates upto the 5sfe, 3vz, 1mz, and the 3mz. The E52 has a good chance of having the same cross combatibility I imagine.

Maybe 88LE will chime in and give something difinitive.

oh shite, i just realized that it's not an e56 since it's an auto.. but one owuld assume it still would recieve the same engines since the tranny has to accept the same engine in the first place..

but anyway..

I think if you know the answer to the thread, regardless of age, then by all means answer it. It might be weird to other people but to me it just makes sense. Its serves the purpose to the original author, which is to answer this thread and in turn serves the purpose of people looking for answers in topics like this. Just my 2 cents.
