Hi all. My '09 runs fine, but I have a Wal Mart battery in it, and I don't think the cables fit properly. It did fine for about a year (slipped off once in a while), but lately the gauges have been going willy nilly. I can let the car set for a while, and they return to normal for a few minutes, then go back to acting crazy. This kills the AC, and occasionally I'll lose power to the car.

Will changing the battery fix this? Or is there some other more insidious problem with my car?

Thanks!

Phillip

You can insert a few strands of bare copper wire between the terminal and clamp. The OEM torque for the clamp is only about 42 inch pounds so it is very easy to distort the clamp by over tightening. Once that happens, it is difficult to get the clamp tight enough to stay secured to the post.

Get a battery post cleaner as well. A post might look clean but it can cause all kind of issues if there is corrosion on the post or the connector.
