Echo HB AT - Question to owners about the Shift

Deal echo HB Automatic owners:

I just got my 2004 echo HB - and I have one question to all Automatic HB drivers. Does your letters on the Automatic shift (i.e. Parking (P) <-> Reverse (R) <-> Driving (D) etc ) illuminate in the dark? Mine doesn't, and I was wondering if it is supposed to because I have a hard time shifting in the dark from P <-> R etc It's too dark inside and since it doesn't illuminate in that area I can't figure out where to shift when I want to go reverse etc. Ofcourse, I should remember that it is in the order of P - R - N - D...just wondering if there's no illumination feature or my shift is defective. Thank you!
