Just curious - Since which year or generation of any Toyota model is the EPB first put on ?

Now technical: With hand PB I always do this way (with AT) when coming to parking spot:
While stopped & in gear or N, pull PB up then shift to P.

Now with this EPB, I do the same - Is there anything wrong or bad about this ?

You just need to hold the button down for a few seconds to disable automatic parking brake... I can still engage it when desired, and I don't have to disengage it every time I start the car.

I hate this electronic brake when I want to reverse on a steep incline garage driveway. Now the car will move downward when I release the clutch under full throttle. I used to manipulate to reverse up the slope when I have the stick brake. The electronic brake hold can’t release the brake partially like the stick brake.

Yes. I drove into a wrong basement garage with 15 degree incline and have to back out. I tried 2 times and the reverse gear seems have not enough power and almost hit the garage door. I can’t partially release the brake because of electric brake.

The brake hold will hold for 2 seconds after releasing the brake. Should be plenty of time.
If you are using the parking brake, make sure you have your seat belt fastened before trying. It won't release automatically unless the seatbelt is fastened.

So in my case, I will put in parking brake first, then put in brake hold, then release foot brake pedal and full throttle with clutch release half and once the car is moving release clutch fully. Is this correct?

always use the EPB.

Parking Brake Cables are the epitome of "Use it or Lose it". if you don't use it enough, especially in the northern rust belt, you will absolutely lose it and the cable will seize.

Not to mention, it's so much easier on your front subframe and engine mounts. TBH, i wish i could make the front brakes engage alongside the rear.

What do you mean it'll hold for 2 seconds? The brake hold will engage the brakes and keep the brakes on without you having to hold the brake pedal until you either depress the accelerator or around 2 minutes it'll warn you to depress the brake pedal to continue to hold or the EPB will engage or by operate the parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed.

From the manual for the manual transmissions,

"The brake hold system keeps the brake applied when the shift lever is in a forward driving position or N with the system on and the brake pedal has been depressed to stop the vehicle. The system releases the brake when the accelerator pedal is depressed with the shift lever in a forward driving position to allow smooth start off."

Also, KEEP IN MIND, if you open the door or take the seat belt off while brake hold is on, the EPB will engage. The door must be closed and you must be wearing the seat belt for brake hold to work as it should.
