I want to wire up my back up camera to power up when in reverse and power up with a switch while driving. I am sooo not knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of thing. I have seen people with nice diagrams on the forum when they have questions about wiring up lights or something. Is there a site I can visit where I can diagram out my questions and see if what I am doing is correct? I know what wires I have to tap into I think but want to know if I am going to blow a fuse of if an add a circuit would be necessary. Thanks

I think the easiest way to accomplish this is to add an in-dash nav system with b/u camera capability. For the camera, it's a single wire (me thinks) from the camera to the nav system and doesn't require to splice & cut, etc.

What kind of HU do you have? My JVC has a reverse wire and an AUX input. With the reverse wire hooked up to the truck reverse wire, and that option selected through the HU, the screen would automatically switch to camera when in reverse and pop out when disengaged. I also have a source for AUX, which when selected would let me view through the camera at all times as long as the camera has power.

If you do not have NAV, then another easy way to do it is...

Buy a 7-pin, blade style plug (assuming you have the tow pkg) and just wire your camera into the reverse wire on on the plug. If you are towing, you probably do not need the camera at that point (because of course, you will disconnect it to hook up your trailer), because you can see the trailer.
