I have a 2002 corolla that at idle runs great, starts great but at 1500 to 2000 rpms has rattle noise in top end. Higher rpms rattle goes away. I have replaced timing chain and tensioner, variable timing valve, lower end has been replaced with all pistons and rings bearings and compression is solid all accross. I puller the timing actuator and seems fine. I have no engine codes but the rattle is still there at mid range rpm. Any thoughts?

Are the valve clearances all in spec? Have you carefully inspected the cams for any pitted lobes, etc? Also, did you make sure the retaining hook on the timing chain tensioner was released after you intalled it? Did you replace the timing sprockets with the chain?
