with proper supporting mods (ie fuel mainly)...and proper tuning....stock motor should be good for 300rwhp....if u want to build ur motor...pistons..u can go with arias, JE, wiesco,etc....rods...best bang for buck would be eagle rods...

The block can handle as much boost as the CT-26 can provide, while still operating in its efficiency range.

From what I hear, with supporting mods, the stock block can handle up to 400RWHP, by then you'll need cams and pistons to go any further...

I am currently over 350 RWHP on an unopened original engine with 198,800 miles. I assure you with proper tuning the OEM engine can handle much more.

Regardless of power, the OEM turbo (ct26 - should not be pushed beyond 15 psi of boost).

With a bigger turbo, the engine can handle a lot more boost.
I just did a 2.3 mile race this past weekend at 23.5 psi of boost.

As for good tuning, in addition to "proper fueling" I would add "proper intercooling".

Funny you mention this, I was reading some old Sport compact car mags and had collected there 91 MR2 buildup. They were able to go well past 400 hp with the stock internals so I wouldnt touch anything unless you plan on getting more.

I think you are reffering to my friend Austin Tracy's Project MR2 build-up?

my point being is that everyone thinks that 400rwhp is achievalbe on the stock block...sure the short block is there...add some aftermarket pistons..rods...arp studs..some cams..and a new intake manifold that you will need to get u past the 300rwhp barrier...how stock is that??....my clear definition of a stock motor is one that is untouched...unopened...top and bottom....

Well according to the article I have hear from the Nov 1997 SCC vol9 issue 11. The car had 433 crank horsepower and about 70 dyno runs to date. They just completed a 5,000 mile trip from Texas to Southern California and it was till running strong.
