Okay, well I managed to do the swap to the Entune Premium w/ Nav on my 2015 Camry (coming from the basic Entune). That was straightforward and easy. I was able to register the donor VIN with Entune's site to get the app and it is running on my phone. When I powered up the unit for the first time after getting the Entune App on my phone, it asked me to do a mandatory update. Did that.
Checked my maps, and they are dated 2014. Picked up a 2015 map from a user here on TN. It works as far as I can tell, but I don't know what has changed between the two.
So, from reading here on TN, there should be a newer software for my Entune than what I have. (The versions all say something like AU 38.74.)
I asked a friend of mine who is a tech for a Toyota dealer, and he asked about the update. He was told it would cost me $187. There is a procedure using a USB drive, Techview and TIS for updating the software.
This doesn't sound right. The $187 sounds like a map update, not a software update.
Any clarification? Specifics that I can give back to my friend to point him in the right (read: free) direction?
