epoxy removal...

does anyone know how to take off old epoxy? i have some epoxy on the back of the noen, and it didnt really stikc on well and always fell off....so im just gonna drill the neon in. but the thing is, the car and the neon both have lots of epoxy goo on it...and i was wounderin if theres any type of chemical u can use to remove it...like...bug and tar remover? lol idk...but jus throwin out ideas before i try it...or do i have to hack away at it wit a buck knife.
