Exhaust resonator?

What is a resonator?

I seen one connected to a persons exaust system, and had no clue what it is.

It makes the exhaust have a slightly deeper sound, makes it sound like you're a ricer. Some call it a fart can, because that's what it sounds like.

haha, i want my truck to sound pretty quiet, so i wont want to get one of these correct?
