Does anyone know if a factory alarm from a 2000-2001 would work on a 1998? I have the factory securikey+ alarm, which I have read is the root of a lot of my electrical problems... I want to just take that out and put in a factory alarm, I don't care what the cost. I found this factory one at a decent price (around 308) but Its listed as a 2000-2001. It should all work, shoudnt it???

308 for a factory alarm... i dont know.. i would just get an aftermarket one

The factory alarm of a 2000-2001 will work on a 1998 but the wiring may be different.

Its actually almost 400 for the factory one, but I found one for 308. The one it has on it now is an aftermarket (although dealer installed) and its causing all sorts of problems...Such as the alarm is going off right now in my garage (with the car unlocked, and unarmed, mind you) (and the horn fuse is pulled so its not noisey) and the parking lights are just going to flash until the battery dies. It does this intermittently... 3 days of it doing this and able to start, then all of a sudden for a month or so it acts fine without problem. I dont even ever arm it. I just lock and unlock the car with the key itsself to avoid problems. But as long as theres a way for the one I want to buy to get power, and somehow to hookup to the locking system, somehow it can get wired up right, correct?

Sorry if that made no sense, Im just really frustrated right now

Yes, the alarm that you are looking at can be hooked up to your car. Like I mentioned above, the wiring will be different. For your current alarm, it may be possible to program it so that it won't act crazy but the alarm manual will be needed. Good luck!
