Anyone know how I can restore this short of a repaint? I've tried rubbing compound and coloured wax, which works for a short time but the sun bleaches it out. Is there any product that can last longer than a month or so?

Anyone ever Permashined their red Camry? Results?

maybe some pics would give us a better idea, but it sounds like the top layer of paint oxidized. you would need a chemical cleaner like Meguiars Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner or Meguiars Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner to remove the layer of oxidation.

good luck!

if you have used rubbing compound and you still can't get it, I am wondering about what kind of paint you have on there.
Sounds like crap. Colored wax is a band aid that does not last.

Check out paint shops - get a quote, it may not hurt $$$ too bad.

Thanks for the replies, btw the paint is all original. I'll try the Meguir's stuff.

The paint on the car itself is still quite red, but even on the rest of the car the wax seems to wear off really quickly. Water beading on the car is only good for about a month and I usually use Turtlewax.

The wing is more of a pink before waxing and as I said, it wears off quickly too. I'm surprised cuz my 4 year old Passat's paint holds wax forever. Granted the Camry has six years on it, but still.

By the way, it's an LE V6 Sport with gray 'Sport' interior and every option except a sunroof and leather AND it's only got 116,000km on it and it's been dealer maintained. Anyone interested? ;~)
