Hi all, I had a post about 6 weeks ago asking for info on Tacomas. Well I finally got me one, It's a 2000 Extended Cab 4X4 with a 4cyl 5 speed running on 31 X 10.50's loaded up with all the goodies plus a towing package. I do have one question, I noticed tonight when I was driving it with the lights on the only thing that lights up around the heater controls is the A/C switch is there supposed to be lights around the temp control and the position selector and if so what could be the problem causing no lights? Earl, the bulbs may be burnt out and from what I hear it's a beyotch to get to. Congrats on your new ride and welcome to TN!

Thanks Humanoid, I figured there are supposed to be lights there anything on these newer vehicles are a beyotch. Thanks again and I will try to get some pics asap.

My 96 taco had the same problem only it is on usually and then when I slide the levers it shuts off but turns back on when I tap (hard) on it with a couple of fingers. I'm going to take it apart tomorow and check the connections.

Congrats on the Taco. Yeah, the other controls are supposed to be lit up. It's actually quite easy to replace those bulbs. All you have to do is remove all the knobs/levers and carefully pop off the black cover with a putty knife. Yours may be harder though because it's a 2000.

Hello ,

So I took my controls all apart and out of the dash. The bulb seemed to be shorting out, and sure enough I took out the bulb and it had a contact that was lose, today the dealership opens (not available at autozone) so I'll go pay them some ungodly amount of money for a new bulb. I'll post later to tell you how it works out.
