Took first road trip.....from SE Utah (6000') to Mesa AZ (500' or so ?) approx 1200 miles total.....yes all downhill to AZ from UT....fuel mileage....? well a bit dissapointed....even with the K&N box filter & Magnaflow muff...the average mpg was 20....running Chevron regular fuel. (Valvoline 5w30) Trouble is the country is so open...that if you drive the posted 65...you may get passed up by an antelope herd...so 75-80 mph was more the normal speed. This I know reflects the 20 mpg. Many times its 30-40 minutes before you pass another vehicle on Utah's remote Hwy 95 & 261.... The Taco's 4.0 V6 purred liked a kitten...with plenty of power to pass anything in sight. The return trip....leaving the Phoenix valley on I-17 climbs to Flagstaff @ 7000'.....steady pull with trannie dropping to 4 to climb & pass to the top. All in all the Taco performed as expected.....comfy solid ride....many double takes along the way...Great truck...! Brakes....could use improvement....10% grades on gravel switchbacks could be improved with 4 wheel discs....guess we'll keep it 10 yrs or so.......
