As we know, I got my 2006 Tacoma PreRunner yesterday, and not that I love it or anything, but I am obsessed with it already. I am about to go for a drive, just to go for a drive. I have nowhere to be and nothing to do, so I may as well drive!

I am wondering what people did when they first got their trucks. It could be anything from washing it, to taking a road trip, to starting to mod. So, yeah...what did you do?

Side note, I already know the first thing I need to do: put in an AUX input so I can get my Sirius Sportster and iPod hooked up. The stock unit is fine (I didn't even know it had a 6-disc changer when I bought it), but I don't have any CDs and I can't stand broadcast radio, so it is a suckfest until I get that input installed!

Wow you caught the mod bug quick......I was expecting at least a month to go by. My first mod was removing the broke back mountain rugged trail sticker from my bed side. Then I got a tonneau cover. Here is an idea for your ipod and hatred for broadcast radio. USA Spec DF-Toy
Hey man, if I had money there would be new wheels (charcoal or black), a bed cover, and the AUX input or new head unit. But that is a BIG "if".

That's not to say I'm unhappy with it; just thinking ahead!

To no one's surprise I'm sure....the first thing I did was clay and wax my truck. I keep it looking new even after 4 1/2 years by doing clay/wax every year or so. Wax every other month. Mods won't look great if the rest of the truck doesn't look great.

Agreed. That DF-Toy seems to be discontinued, and where you can find it, the price is over $100. If I'm dropping $100, I'll go one up and get an in-dash unit that has Sirius built in.
Yeah I noticed it was discontinued after I posted the link..sorry. It was on my radar but I never got around to picking one up.

By the beard of Zeus, your truck is gorgeous!

And I would clay and wax...if I wasn't so lazy

First mod was the fog light mod. Then came the dome light mod. Both of which were basically free since I had the spare wire laying around.

Very first mod I did was the fog light mod, it took me all of 2 minutes to do, and I did it 3 days after owning the truck. Pulled the front mud flaps the same day

First mod was the front skid plate and I added a locking, color matched bed cover. The skid plate just makes the Taco look tough and the locking cover was needed to keep my work gear in.

My next plans are:
Performance: DT headers and catback exhaust
Vanity: TREX chrome mesh grill, wheels, and tires

Enjoy that new truck Dave.

Undercarriage coat to battle rust.

DF-Toy sucks, i had 2 die on me.

I think a ScanGauge would be an excellent first mod because it will allow you to track data over the vehicle life.

Personally My favorite mod I have done was swapping out the stock head unit for a used Alpine I got on here. Much better sound, iPod integration, HD radio if i choose later, and an aux input (did not have one on the 2005) for Pandora off my cell phone and my standalone XM tuner.

I also have an Extang Trifecta Folding Tonneau cover. Best $300 I ever spent. Its so easy to take on and off. Pop lock also makes things much nicer.

Here's some more ideas:
Maglight mount?
Rear Diff Breather?
Door Chime Disable?
Make you horn chirp when you lock the door?
Train Horns?
HID Projector Retrofit?
LED Washer Fluid Nozzles?
Mr Fusion so it can run on rice?
