Hi all,

I have a Camry which doesnt have the tachometer in the instrument cluster.
I want to pull the cluster out of another Camry and put it in mine.

I picked one up from the wreckers, and when I plugged it in, nothing seems to work, except for the hazard light which flashes when the indicator is put in.

Im not 100% sure if it was out of a 6cyl or 4cyl Camry, so I am assuming two things:

1 - the instrument cluster with the tachometer which I want to put in my Camry needs to be out of a 4 cyl (mine is a 4) or else the signals are messed up?

2 - All the wiring is there so I should just be able to plug it in?

Is the hazard switch a switch that makes your lights flash in case of an emergency with the arrows pointing <-- --> and flashing in the dash also your outside lights? or a chemical spill?

Seems to me if you weren't the only owner, or know of the history of the car, it could've been previously a rental car. I seen alot of car like that when i was a kid and not driving back then but been in them ( example: chevy malibu newest model of the yr only had a speedometer and engine temp gauge on it also what automatic gear it was in). If you weren't the only owner of it; it could most definitely been a retired rental car and needs slight modification of the cluster wiring that i have no knowledge of.
