A lot of people prefer Magnaflow actually.

5x8x18 muffler is what everyone is using.

I know someone has a 50 series Flowmaster. They seem to be happy with it.

A 40 series, 2 chamber will be loud as hell. I had one on my Jeep and it was LOUD.

IMO, Flowmaster is for V8 Mustangs and shit.

Magnaflow can be used on any car and still sound great. I will never again buy a Flowmaster.

Magnaflow is cheaper too!

Ive got a Flowmaster 50 Series on my F-150.
From what I understand, the 40 and 50 sound the same outside the vehicle, but you hear the 40 more inside the vehicle.
If you are going to run a 40, you might just as well just run straightpipes because thats pretty much what you are going to get.
I dont think that exhaust really does anything to your milage, I get 17 mpg highway with my truck ('99 F-150 reg cab, 8' bed, 4x4 with 5.4L V8 and 3.73 gears) which is pretty normal milage for a 4x4 F-150.

Someone else here on this board put in a Flowmaster 50 Delta Flow series that sounded very good. Sounded better than the 40 series in the sound clips.

I had a 40 series with dual pipes and it was way too loud (in a bad way) just not for a V6. I went to a 70 series and it sounded alot better with dual pipes. In the end i took it off and used gibson. So I have a 70 series muffler for single in dual out for sale if u want it. lemme know!

yeah, I got the magnaflow single in dual out muffler. It sounds great. No complaints at all. I had a Flowmaster 40 series on my Ford Ranger and it sounded good too. It just really depends on whether or not you mind the loud rumble from the exhaust. Because I think that is all that you are buying when you get a flowmaster is for the sound. Magnaflow is the way to go for me now. Won't ever go back to Flowmaster. Just my .02

i've got 40's on my Vette. I'd classify it as loud. If you look inside, there isn't anything but a couple of plates to "deflect" teh sound HA

Magnaflow 4 Life. My friend has a Magnaflow on his Chevy 2500 and it sounds great. Never go back to Flowmaster. A Magnaflow can be installed on any car and it will sound great too!

I've gotta flowmaster 50 series delta flow, and I think it sounds pretty mean, but at first when I got it I was a little sketchy on it cuzz it was kinda high pitched and ricey sounding, but the more I drove it, the deeper it got it seemed, I dont know how big the difference is with 40's though.
yeah, it takes a while to break it in and then it sounds a little deeper in sound. Same thing happened with my magnaflow dual exhaust.

My truck had a 40-series on it while I waited for my 50-series to be ordered.

It blew donkey balls! Droned like crazy in the cab between 40 and 55 mph. IMO, it's just too short a muffler to sound good on our trucks. The 50-series DeltaFlow sounds great... and, despite what the Magnaflow sack-riders say, all of the mufflers with similar dimensions sound pretty similar.

Speaking from experience... if you want to retain your sanity, DO NOT put the 40-series on your Tacoma.

EDIT** I forgot to add... since installing the muffler, my truck has consistently gotten roughly half a mile per gallon better gas mileage. I do A LOT of highway driving, so it was easy to see the mileage difference. Hell, in the couple of months I've had it, the gas savings is probably more than the muffler cost.

50 and 70 series is best for our truck if you prefer Flowmaster. I really jock Magnaflow. I swing from their sack 24/7. LOL.

damn, what a bunch of haters

i've got the 40 series on my truck and I love it! At first it was a bit loud, but after a few weeks it broke into what it is now, just right. if you're the real sensitive type, then it'll probably be too loud for your liking. avoid the 50 series too cause the two are pretty close. Spin tech is loud and mean sounding also, so if you’re not into that, stick with the Magnaflow everyone appears to be jocking.

Also, didn't notice any increase in mileage with the 40 series

Call me a hater if you want. But, I've had both... and the 50 is FAR superior in terms of everyday drivability. With the 40-series, normal conversation in the cab was damn near impossible at normal "around-town" speeds. The 50-series DeltaFlow has all of the Flowmaster sound outside the truck, with none of the incessant droning inside the cab.

But... like I've always said... as long as YOU like it, that's all that matters.

Do all of you have the full exhaust system (cat-back) or just the muffler? Someone told me that you will lose low-end torque with a cat-back.

For all you with the Magnaflow...what is the most popular, best sounding, and price?

these trucks don't need a catback system. pick out a muffler, have it switched out and you're done

Magnaflow. Most of us have the 5x8x18 muffler. Anything smaller than that is loud!

Some of us have the center in, center out configuration, I have offset/center. Most of us have mufflers only I believe. We just simply cut off the stock one and added the Magnaflow. It cost me about $100 installed. I added a tip which ended up being $150+.

You could also go with the full Magnaflow catback which will be about $400 or the TRD Exhaust which will be $400 as well.

I really like the Spintech too. I heard one on an X-Runner and it sounded raw. If I would have known abnot Spintech before, I might have tried it out.

Om my 4cyl with the 24" magnaflow I actually felt like I lost torque and gained Noise! I swear... I put another OEM exhaust on and called it a day.
