I like them, and tested several for months. Getting the the surface all foamed up, in theory, would make it less apt to scratch when washing.

Our test found that it's a great way for us to sell more Car Wash soap, as you go through much much more. We also found that the amount of scratching that naturally happens when washing was not noticeably reduced.

Finally, we found that twice the amount of water is needed to wash down that many suds, which is not exactly 'environmentally friendly.' That was ultimately the reason we decided not to carry them in our line.

If you maintain a, "Who cares, we have all the water in the world. Sending 80 gallons of water down the gutter with each wash doesn't matter to me," mentality, than the Foam Gun is the tool for you!

What can I say, we live in Boulder, and tree hugging comes naturally here!

My $.02 on the Foam Gun.

Thanks, I was wondering if it would require more soap and water. Sounds like it does both...I'll stick to my 2 bucket method.

I use a 1 quart AutoGeek foam gun. I like it a lot, but yes it does use more water and soap than most other methods. I feel that it spreads the soap more evenly and on real dirty vehicles it can reduce the marring more than using a regular wash soap bucket method.

I also like the foam gun because I can custom mix up a batch of soap. Along with the foaming soap I usually mix a little detailing spray, and some ONR rinseless wash, just to maximize the lubrication between my mitt and the paint. And the detailing spray in the mix seems to leave behind a little more shine.

If you want to be conservative with soap and water then stick with the two bucket method.

I use a cheap foam gun from PepBoys. I have yet to get a good one from AutoGeek. I love how they spread the suds and it covers the vehicle evenly. A lot of my family lives in Colorado...they are conservationist, hunters, outdoor lovers, but they are far from being tree huggers. LOL! ;)
