here's a pic of my footwell lights. there are the blue/green and white ccfl's. they're just sitting under the seats for now and depending on how the move while driving i get lots of variation in color. i just switched out the white ones today for blue, so now its blue/green and blue. i'll see how that looks tonight. If i like it im putting the white ones in the trunk.

Can you use led's with this mod. the fade in and out has me worried.
I was just thinking the same thing. it looks like superbrightled has LED bars which I'd want to use for footwells and trunk, just not sure if running power is the same connections. either way I need to reorder some more leds and was thinking I might as well just place one order and set myself up for the 2 DIY (footwell/trunk).

One quick question based on the footwell DIY, I see the power is soldered onto the console light leads, my question is, what if you need to get into the console again? Did anyone rig up/splice in some disconnects? It looks like once you solder it in and run the wire, you'll need to leave excess wiring if you want to remove the console for whatever reasons.

Anyone chime in here?

I don't think anyone here soldered them into the console lights.

The power can come from pretty much only three places.

1. The dome light above, then wired all the way down to your foot well.

2. The power supply that is in the pic in the actual footwell DIY.

3. Another junction box located next to the driver's side air vent behind the dash, similar to the one that is pictured in the foot well DIY.

You don't even need to solder them either. You can use butt connectors as well, that way you can disconnect them like you wish. Just dont let the pos and neg wires touch together to create a spark.

Your fuse will blow.................trust me.

running it from the dome light is pretty much the standard thought although you might be able to do it from the ignition barrel light i don't know if it would work but it would save some wire and buy some fuses as you might find them going off like my trunk cathode did when i first installed it

solder it to your dome light remember that the copper connection to the light is positive and the silvery one is ground and don't solder it to the switch up there do it to the rails (when you see it you'l understand what i mean by rails)

are you sure its not wired? if not than does it turn on? becuase it has to be wired to work. A member here my the name of "Netforcer" did this mod and he DOES NOT have a sun roof so it should work.

you can also use the same wire cluster to power your foot well lights just like in the 'Lighted Door Sill' DIY......that would bypass the whole headache of having to use the dome light.

It too will fade out like the dome.

i already thought about it when i had all my kick panels off but the door lights just shut off when the door closes and the dome light is still on till u turn the ignition on. i already had the dome light out of my car and seen the rail and when i probed them i only found one constant hot coming in and the selector button(door, off,on) switches the setting on the light its self (i think). but also noticed the key light on the ignition auto dims when u turn the key to the on position. just curious were the relay or box that feeds all these lights to dim is so i can tap in directly.

(FYI i work in a mechanic shop and tried to find the dome light wire colors in the wire diagrams for the interior and it appears the vehicle is too new. it will only show me where the lights r and how to test and inspect, not very helpful)

^ yes you are correct there is a easier method, such as taping into the fuse to leave the lights on when the key is in or tap it into the courtesy lights but that will only turn them on when the door is opened. I used the domelight because when you unlock your car the lights will turn on and when and you lock it than it will turn off. pretty much teh same concept as puddle lights.
Hey CamrySExxx, how would I go about tapping into the fuse because I want accent lights in the footwells on whenever the key is in the ignition? Could you tell me where the fuse box is and what kind of equipment I might need to be able to tap into it? Thanks.

Wanting to install this

All this is new to me but I want to make this happen!!

How is the 16 GA wire holding up for the people not using a fuse? R

eally confused on the wiring of the fuse but I will try my best.

My question is how many CCFL's can i put on just one 16 GA speaker wire? I want to install around 4. Driver, passenger, 1 under driver sear and 1 under passenger seat. Is this possible?

Great post!!
