I've looped it around the contacts when I was doing this LED mod on numerous cars. You might want to drop some solder on the connection to make sure its secure.

Here it is on a Matrix:


You can get away by using speaker wire. I used 18 gauge red & black wire. One end of the bulb was taped off so it doesn't light up with the LED strip.

Was wondering if you could look at my diagram i drew out to see if that would make sense , basically attach 18gauge speaker wire to dome run in headliner then down the pillar on the side then under carpet into center console then to driver side for led, then tap into that wire with extra 18gauge wire for the passenger leds and the back. Let me know if that would work without any issues, burn outs, etc

This guy had a seemingly simpler solution. Not sure if it'd work with our 7thGens.

I know your post is dated however, every search I do (app. 12 million so far) for footwell lights, leads me back to this thread. Any chance you could put the photos back on? I can't be the only one running in circles!
