So I forgot to disconnect battery, grounded hot starter contact on the frame with socket during the main 12mm electrical connection removal.

Has anyone done this before and what will be the most likely areas that suffered?

I'm wanting to get someone elses experience on this issue before I put the starter back in and begin diganosing what may be broke.
Thanks,
Pete

Lol. I did that once (and only once) in High School. So long as the wrench didn't weld itself to the block and blow up the battery, there is probably no damage. Visually inspect the starter and battery terminals and 12v+ starter cable insulation, but if all looks okay, you're probably fine. Hook it all up and give it a go.

How long was it grounded? I think all of the components involved are pretty heavy duty so if it was just a second or two I'm sure its fine. Just look it over really well. I bet that was quite the shower of sparks.

Just chalk it up as a "Wont do that again"

oh ya

Yeah that was a good one. The week before I was welding on a trailer that was attached to the truck and I disconnected the battery, I always do. In this instance I had gone through tests running leads to test the starter solenoid and in the thick of it moved onto the next step and forgot. 1 in 10 jobs something like that happens inside or out of the house.

It was only grounded for a second and yes there was a nice little shower of sparks down onto the icy driveway where the truck made it's last start.

Listen guys, thanks for the input and thanks for not teeing off on me for such a thoughtless manouever.
