found a strange corolla

Me and my friend were junk yarding and we found out all the junk yards are closed on memorial day, but we saw this 94 corolla through the fence. It needs a new hood, fender and front bumper. What was interesting was the engine said vvti on the valve cover, we arent big toyota buffs but we new this wasnt normal. What engine could this be, we didn't get a good look or we would tell you the engine code, it isnt the one in a 2002 camry.

2000 and up Corolla got VVTi. Its the 1ZZ-FE.
Oh unless its a 4A-GE. If so go back and take it.
hmmm.....back in 94, VVTI was limited...... and one of the VVTI engine back in 94 was 20V 4AGE.,.....but of course, they can always swapsomething else....
20V 4AG-Es dont have VVT/VVTi stamped on the valve cover. it says "TWIN CAM 20".

TVIS is just for the 16V bluetop motors and it's stamped on the intake manifold/throttle body while the valve cover has "TWIN CAM 16" on it. the 20Vs have "4 THROTTLE" stamped on the intake plenum by the way.

Itchi.... you're still my boro master! :thumbup: :D

Yeah but like itchy said some of the 20Valves had VVT-i in the later years.
I could have sworn I have seen one that said vvt-i on it...
maybe I am thinking of a 2jz-gte:confused:
http://www.club4ag.com/

This says the AE101 and AE111 had "VVT" on their 4agelu:confused:
silvertop = vvt
blacktop = vvti

BIGPORT = t-vis (which includes both blue and redtops)
Chris... you're right! the later version of the blacktop has VVT-i and the slivertop has VVT but none of them has these designation stamped on the valve cover unlike the VTEC on the honda engines.

toyotaspeed.... man, i always forget that the redtop came with big ports, hehehe. i always remember the small port redtop w/c doesn't have T-VIS. :p:
