I finally did it. I am so far the proud owner of a 2003 V6 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab SR5!! I am VERY happy with the truck so far. I am surprised how much it rides like a truck, not mushy like a car, love feeling the terrain under me. Have been consistently getting 19 mpg on the highway vs. 13 on my '94 Inline 6 F150 (did have 240,000 miles on it so I got my money worth from it.

Reading some of the threads in here have been a huge help in me making my decision on this particular truck. Only question I have so far is should I have more snap off the line in this truck or is it more torque off the line? I don't race it, but just playing around a little to see it's abilities. It runs strong and fast when it's moving but revs real high when you punch the gas to get it going quick as it gets going.

I had a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge and after i decided to total that truck, I did some research and decided to tryout the Tacoma's and found my current baby the 2000..

My tacoma is quicker, handles better, and has a way better ride then my Ranger did.

Good choice on the switch and welcome to Toyota Nation

Might want to change out the plugs and wires on that baby. How may miles on it?
I bought it with 78,500 on it and now have almost 80,000 on it. Just received the maint. records from the dealership that serviced it through it's life. It had a tranny flush and induction service?? (I assume throttle body and injector cleaning??) in addition to many oil changes.

Love this truck!! Tires have a few more miles on it but not too many, not too many off road options for that particlular size 265 70 16, not even BFG Mud terrain.

I just purchased my 02 4x4 (74800 miles) and the Michelin LTX M/S tires that were on the truck when I bought it sucked. The sidewall was way to soft and the tread made me feel like I was a soccer mom driving a mini van, in other words it just wasn't aggressive enough, so today I went to Discount tires and purchased a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain KO's. At first I was a little leery about spending that much money on a tire especially after I read so many negative reviews about it but now that I they're on the truck I couldn't be more pleased.

I strongly suggest if your finances allow it get yourself a new set of tires, it'll make all the difference in the world.

I agree about the tires. I had BFG Mud terrain and BFG All Terrain on my last truck and want the same brand, but wanted the Mud Terrain for this truck since it is 4x4, both BFG's in my opinion rode the same, Mud terrains were a little bit louder, nice quiet humm to them. Would love another set of them but not sure yet.

Humanoid,

I am in need of new coil packs for my 2000 v6. I have looked around the ususal places online but I can't find them. Do you know where i could find them? I measured the resistence of my coil packs and wires and I need new ones. The Stealer wants $90 a pack!

Gear Head, try getting a quote from trdparts4u.com, I've bought many things from them with no problems. They've got great prices and great customer service. If you can't find them on the site, give them a call, they're very helpful.
