Good morning! I recently took delivery of a new 2017 Highlander and our front 2.1Amp USB ports are not working. The back ones work fine.

Has anyone else seen issues with these ports? The dealership (Texas Toyota of Grapevine) is absolutely no help here and is basically throwing their hands up and passing the buck to Apple. Yet, an Android phone will not charge either.

Has anyone had any issues with these ports?

So that means your data port( the one on the left ) charges the phone? All these ports do charge my iPhone on my 2017 Highlander. It shouldn't be rocket science to figure out whether these ports have 2.1 amps coming out of them.

Check the fuse?
Also, keep pressing on the dealer. That's a warranty claim for sure.

You would think it would be easy to detect. Really frustrated with this one. They said they checked the fuses and said there was power going to the ports. But then they said, "Well, apple sometimes doesn't work with toyota."

I call BS.

Have the manager connect his own phone.
Try a different HL on the lot, maybe?
Get a couple of your friends to connect their phones.
Also, do you have another accessory you can connect through usb and see if it'll charge?

I've just ordered a USB Volt/Amp tester to be delivered tomorrow. I will report back as I have more. I can test volts on the power plug itself, don't feel like cutting down a cable right now to test amps.

Ok, Update. Not sure what these guys tested but there is no voltage hitting the USB leads.
You say back usb ok. May sound wierd, but...can u test back usb with your meter & should show v. Now test front usb exact same way. If it still shows no v. (dead)I'd call svc. mgr & go from there. Good luck

I'm, waiting on the better tester, but I did see a voltage difference. I talked to the service manager again via phone. He was in a considerably better mood than this AM. Not sure what is up, but I'll be reporting back officially once I get the proper meter results done.

Yes, it is an iPhone. Charges fine in the back seat. I'm waiting for my wife to get home so I can put a volt meter on the USB ports and try other devices.
hi there, though it is quite possible that the ports are not getting power, just to ensure that you have verified everything that you could, you might want to try charging a bluetooth device or another non-iphone on that port. I did have similar experience with my wife's iphone when she connected the phone to the power charger and it did not work.
