Anyone here work or worked as a mechanic at a Toyota dealership? I stopped in a local dealer for pads & rotors for my RAV4 and was offered a choice from two different rotors, both in Toyota sealed boxes. I asked "what's the difference?". Parts guy said, "one set are the "ones we install" and the other are OEMs, but both are Toyota brand". I went with the OEM's.

One is from the Economy parts line which is supposed to be cheaper so the dealers can compete with independent shops selling cheap generic brand parts. The OEM brake parts are same or similar to what it came with from factory.
Did they quote you the same for both ?

I didn't ask for the price difference, just said give me the OEM rotors & pads. I was surprised by the price. I was expecting them to cost a lot more as I have always purchased brake parts from Auto Zone, Advance, Oreilley's, ect for cars in the past.
