2002 camry 4cyl - I was under the car yesterday with my mechanic and he showed me where the pipe sit on the hanger bracket it is starting to rust and will develop into a hole in the pipe. Is there a way to put shield on the pipe to protect from getting a hole in it? Or can a piece of the pipe be cut out and a new section put in?

If the rest of the exhaust is good then have your mechanic just cut and weld.
