Front Squeak?

2361 Views 18 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  eyedoc
It has been about 3 weeks or so since I put the toytech 3" spring lift on, and today I noticed that my front end is squeaking. That seems kinda odd to me. I guess that if it were coming from the rear then I wouldn't be so puzzled. I have never heard anyone say that their front was squeaking.
Probably not a big deal, but it is kind of bugging me. Anyone experienced this after lifting there truck?

Yeah, when I had wheels with a really low b/s, my lower ball-joints would make a horrible sound when I got in and out of the truck.

Do you have aftermarket wheels?

My Coil overs slightly rub the Sway bar on the passenger side and sqeak like hell sometimes!!!!

my stock taco pops and clicks (from the front) when i go over speed bumps. There is a TSB for this i think... it doesnt really bother me that much... so i havent broght it in yet.
My front end started squeaking about a week after I installed my lift. Sprayed the top and bottom bolts on the CO's and all the swaybar connections with some triflow and haven't heard a thing since.
The "cup" on the bottom of the shock rubs the sway bar. If you put a small spacer on the sway bar mounts, it will rotate the sway bar enough to get it out of the way.

Mine started squeaking after the alignment way back when. Yes, the lower spring cup rubs the anti-sway bar. I removed the U-brackets that hold the bar on and elongated the "round" hole with a file and re installed the other way. The bar now sits about 1/8" further forward than it did so no interference issues at all.

Thanks guys, I'm going to take a look at it today.
my camburg uca's squeak like there is no tommorrow. i have sprayed everything on the uniballs to get them to stop squeaking but no luck. where can i find this triflow stuff that i hear people talking about? anywhere else i should be spraying in order to eliminate squeaks? thanks
More of a "clunk," but make sure you have a good weld where your upper control arms pivot. Mine didn't, took me months to figure out.

I found triflow at OSH, not sure if they have those down in SoCal or not.

Did you grease up the bushings on your UCA's? They'll squeak too if they dry out.

This is what I did also, just today, and here's a pic of it!

After I cut that small piece out I filed down the inside of that hole so that it was a tad bit deeper in order to get the sway bar to sit about 3/16" further forward. Hopefully it works, I'm going for a test ride in a few hours.

i have greased them up as well. i'll have to find an osh around my house and get some of that stuff.

Jacobi, did it work for you?
I have a DR sway bar relocation kit that I would sell if anyone needs one.

Haha, hell no it didn't work. It would for a little while and eventually start making noises again. I tried thread lock and everything, but nothing would work. Well, nothing would work until I tried something new this morning. Let's just say I've got a sway bar sitting in my spare bedroom now...it looks better in there than it did on the truck.
:bump:

I'm definately having this problem on my passenger side.

How many people have removed their sway bar completely? OR, how many have a relocation kit for their sway bar?

Maybe that'd be a good poll...

Thats the bumper mounts TSB

There are also defective sway bar bushing. They get hard and crack and make a nice squeaking noise.
