Hey guys, wanted to change front sway bar bushing in my 1990 Camry LE 2.0 automatic.

Problem: Thread block( inside metal support) for front sway bar center bushings have broken off and just spin when attempting to remove.

Any tips for correcting this issue?

I was assuming the only way is going to be to unbolt the support and hole saw opposite side, then weld it back down. I want to sell it and I just really dont feel like doing this. if thats the case. Any help is appreciated.

If there is no access, then yep you have no choice but to cut a hole then weld it back together.

I am going to look today. Maybe I can drill through the entire thing and use grade 8 hardware, long bolt thick washer and nut. I just am feeling lazy and I dont wanna break out the welder. Anways, thanks for the reply

Same problem. I was able to drill a hole at an angle and jam a metal rod (screwdriver) to hold the square nut. Spray liquid wrench. Actually a few holes until I got the correct position. If you still have the issue I can post a picture.

Yea I'm knee deep in a S ton of work on friends car, so I will probably be trying something very similar. Planning to hole saw back of each thing. Do what I have to do, then weld or epoxy a cover over hole for water penetration concerns and future replacements.

Pictures are always welcome lol :nopics:

There are already drain holes on the front sway bar chassis mounts... Depending on how 'good' you want to be, you can just leave it open...
