Anyone run across any scruff marks on the inside of their tinted window by the rubber sealant ..i've had my car tinted for 7 months..my front 2 windows tints have been replaced twice for "scruff marks"

i got a pix

the person who does my tint says dirt gets in between rubber sealant causing the scruff..weird part about my story is that my rear windows are fine

please advise

I've got those, too. I don't really mind, seeing as I either have my windows all the way up or all the way down.
thats really weird...... Well all my windows are stock tint except for the front passenger due to the break-in and I only see two on the rear windshield but they are barely visable....and the aftermarket tint is no problem either and it was tinted a month or so ago. All of my tint is fine, I didnt know it was possible for this to happen especially since we are talking about rubber.....where did you get the windows tinted at?

i got mine tinted at this place by my house.. he specializes in both auto and residential tinting..been in service for over 20 years. and the brand tint is LLUNAR..got life-time warranty on them too, but i dont wanna be annoying going back and forth lol (i'm saving it for the back windshield, if it bubbles)
I've had my tint on for almost 2 years now without any marks like that. :D
crappy tint, i'd say REPLACE MY tint if guaranteed!
I got some a rock or something stuck in the weatherstripping on the outside and have some long gouges in the glass from it.

crappy tint my ass  (i see no purple or bubbles around my car) its the weather strip that is crappy.. my father got his scion xd tinted and the driver side got some "scruff"

i wish i could make a claim w/ toyota for their crappy weather strip causing the scruff, but its pointless..either my windows are half way down or all the way up.. plus winters coming
My daughter's Echo was tinted with Formula 1 and the front door mindows are scuffed from being rolled up and down. No real solutions here - we just live with it.
Wonder if some silicon lube on the weatherstrip may help soften the rubber strip.

Llumar is a pretty good brand, unless the tint the OP got was not scratch resistant.

This would be my guess as well. That or a zipper or taking off a seatbelt carelessly causing the buckle to drag across the glass.
Im starting to get those scuff marks on mine as well and ive had mine tinted about 7 months. Did you find a solution?
I've been noticing those marks as well on my Xrs, but I don't really mind it as I have my windows all the way up or down.

Don't know what brand or who tinted it as it was already tinted when we bought it. If I'm not mistaken, I think its only my driver window?
I got same marks. I live with it for now.
I've had my windows tinted for 2 years now & no marks. :D
i might as well add that my tint is just fine after 1 1/2 years. even the aftermarket tint when the window was broken
whats goin on guys..to answer some questions.. no i have not found a solution yet..havent even had time to go to the tint shop i got my windows done from...

apparently i just learned how to live w/ it..i mean its not a big deal..its like someone stated..either you have the windows rolled up all the way up, or down lol

the scruff mark is only on the passanger side window as the back rear window does not have that issue..
I asked an auto shop about this and he made a valid point that it depends on the area you drive your car in. If there are more pollutants in the air (dirt, sand, etc.), either in the air or getting kicked up by other drivers, it can get trapped on the rubber liner on your window. Naturally when your window rubs up and down it will come into contact with this debris on the rubber and scratch the vinyl tint. He said you can try to avoid this somewhat by leaving 1/8 of an inch or more at the top of the window untinted.
Ive got my front tinted, one year now, rolling windows up and down sveral times a day and no scratches. However, my 07 IS250 had them, FWIW.
