Anyone know what's involved in a Fuel Filter replacement on 1st gen Avalons? Mine's a '98.
What's the recommended replacement time/mileage?

General procedure/tips?
Thanks all.

Not really hard to do. just be sure to pull the fuse for the fuel pump and run the car so there is no more fuel in the line, otherwise you have high pressure gas spraying all over the place... not good. also make sure that the replacement filter you are buying has replacement gasket washers for the banjo fitting.

Give yourself access from below by removing wheel, and above by removing air cleaner box.

Inlet line can be a real pain to remove. Flare nut wrench highly recommended to avoid rounding.

Check your OM (at Toyota.com if you don't have the paper copy) to see if there's a recommended replacement interval. My three (97, 99, 03) don't have one.

They've gotten rid of it on later generations.
