Just installed a Weber 32/36 on my '86 22R. I was told (and sold) a fuel pressure
regulator under the premise that the factory fuel pump delivers too much fuel to the
Weber. Seems to run okay so far without it (other than not wanting to stop running
when I turn the key off.)

So, is the fuel pressure regulator necessary? If so, can anyone offer any advice as
to where & how to install it? Thanks in advance.

The weber is happy with around 4psi, if you have the original mechanical pump you should be alright running as is. If you want to fine tune the fuel pressure then a regulator is OK, but it needs to be a bypass style regulator, a standard inline regulator is junk and not worth the effort to install it IMO.
If you want it, the best place is as close to the carb as possible inline in the fuel delivery line.

??????????????????

I am trying to figure out why your engine wont shut off once you have the key turned off!!!

????????????

I,m thinkin he's meaning its dieseling when the keys turned off, possibly the idle is set to high, or throttle linkage is binding and not letting the throttle plate close completely?? or maybe it is the switch and the key doesn't shut it off and I just didn't understand

The Weber has place you can install an idle shut-off solinoid. This will stop it from dieseling. I have been able to use a factory shut-off on at least one Weber in the past, it just screws in the side of the carb.
