fuel pump gas leak

I have a gas leak in my 1986 4x4 carbutated PU-- I'm pretty sure it's at the fuel pump.

Do I need a new fuel pump?

No. But you need to find the leak and fix it. Probably a split hose or loose clamp.
if it is coming from where it mounts or from the inlet or outlet on the pump replace it. Go here and print this out and take it to schucks.

OK, if you determine the mechanical fuel pump is actually the real problem, don't get one from a parts store. This is one of the parts that you really have to get an OEM Toyota replacement. I've been there, the rebuilt parts store ones aren't worth crap. A used Toyota pump is a better choice.
