When I was the garage tonight I heard a noise like a motor running. I thought it was something outside so I go out there but nothing. I go back in the garage and there's that noise again. I walk around the garage and realize it's coming from the rear of my Taco. Sure enough, I stick my head near the rear wheel well and there it is, a motor running full blast and what sound like a hissing noise but the truck is off and has not been run for over five hours. I think to myself, did I leave the keys in the ignition? No. The truck is off.

Is this normal?

Im not 100% sure, but check out the fog light always on mod thread. I dont remember off hand what it is, but something turns on for a little while after a few hours of the truck being off. That triggers the modded lights to turn on or something? Might be the same thing you are hearing?

It's Normal, it's part of the emissions system. The truck runs a pump to reclaim vapors in the gas tank about 5 to 7 hours after you turn the truck off.

Mine does the same thing, 2-4 hours after shutting down. If you start the truck while it's doing this it will explode.
