I have a 1990 toyota pickup with the gauge cluster that has no tach in it. I am Looking for a gauge cluster to replace it with that has a tach. Does anyone have any suggestions? If you have some experience from replacing them help would be great.

I did that to my 89 2X4, you need a cluster that had a cable speedo, & same trans since the autos light up for the gear you are in, & 4 cyl or v6 tach. & then change out your oil sender to one made for a gauge, I think I paid more for the new oil sender than the used cluster.

You need to swap the cluster and the oil pressure sending unit if your old cluster has an oil press idiot light.
Otherwise you will burn out the new oil press gauge.

The easiest is to swap 4 cyl for 4 cyl or 6 cyl for 6 cyl.
You can swap for 4 cyl for 6 cyl but you will have to re-calibrate the tach.

just did it in my truck. doner was a 89 4runner 4cyl 4x4 manual. My truck is 91 pickup 4 cyl 2wd manual. Eveyrthing plugs in and works pin for pin (yes, I checked in my OCDness) except I had to add a wire for the tach signal.

Thanks and where did you wire the tach to then?
Ig-, the separate single pin in the diagnostics connector. I actually already had the wire run to the dash for an aftermarket tach, Just had to redirect it to the cluster. I don't remember which pin or plug but if you can trace circuits you can figure it out. I want to say it was in the 2nd connector from the right, looking at the front of the cluster (IE sitting in the truck)

I finally got all my parts and the new oil pressure switch has a different connection then the old one and it says it is a male button terminal. Does anyone know where i can get the female connection?

hi everyone, new here:hi:

i found this link on another site that was very helpful on this topic... hopefully it's ok to post this here. I have a gauge cluster on order & am looking forward to making the swap (it always bugged me that the only vehicle i own that doesn't have a tach in it is my only one with a manual trans).

either pull one from a junkyard truck and solder it in or solder a regular spade female. it just slides onto the button sideways.
