Garmin Nuvi 650 says that it has MP3 compatability. Does anyone use their MP3 player through the 650? How does it hook up and is the quality any good?

My husband put a couple songs in my 660 - using a card that you plug into it. I can't remember which card. According to this site - it says SD card.

You can play the music directly out of the Garmin itself, but it sounds like crap. You can also use FM modulation I bleieve - which is sketchy. I tried the FM modulation for the bluetooth/ my phone and I just couldn't find a good quality fm station without interferance.

For MP3's - you're better off hooking up directly to your stereo somehow.

I use my garmin nuvi 680 through the FM transmitter to play MP3s. The quality is about like using an ipod with an fm transmitter I suppose. Its not great.

I will let you know soon. I just hardwired my Garmin 780 in. I get my voice prompts through the radio now using the df-toy. Sounds really clear.

I hardwired it myself to a DF-TOY by my gear shift. It was easy but I took my time. Installing the DF-TOY took the longest.

The MP3 function works great and I have used it for two days now. I bought a 2gb SD card and loaded with music. I set the Garmin to shuffle and the music sounds great and pauses for directions while in route or phone calls. I am very pleased.
