Sigh...

After so many years, my original windshield is cracked by some flying lumber on the freeway.:sosad: :thumbdown

My question is, will I be able to get an Toyota OEM (non Aftermarket) windshield? I would prefer it says "Toyota" on the glass...

I have to find out if my insurance will waive the deductable too... what a freakin' night....

If you're low on cash and insurance doesn't cover it, I'd suggest calling around to some junkyards and see if they have any good condition OE windshield for your car.

I don't know how much money they'd charge you but, I have a 4th gen Camry, live in NYC and it'd cost $130.00 for a non OE windshield including labor to have it installed. :smokin:

why does it matter if its not toyota? ive had windshields replaced that were non-oem and the functioned and looked the same. i wouldnt suggest getting a used one from a junkyard. then youll have to remove the glass, remove the sealant and this is assuming you find a window with no chips or scratches.

I've had two windshields replaced. In both cases, the insurance companies had me call one of those mobile glass replacement companies that come to you. I got the glass they gave me.

i had my windshield replace this fall. My insurance covered it (deductive-free) but i got a generic windshield installed at my house meeting all the specs of oem; mine was green solar (solara). I am really happy with the one they installed, i like it better than the toyota one, its got a deeper shade on top. Good luck taking care of yours.

there are couple long cracks, vertical and horizontal ones, and some circular ones larger than size of CD, so repair is out of the question...

I checked with my insurance, they say unless I can provide them with the car that shot the lumber and cracked the window, I have to pay part of it.

They claim mobile replacement service is about $600 and I have to pay around $240 for it. I really doubt for non OEM replacement it cost $600 with installation, $300 to $400 is what I anticipate, about $600 or so for OEM replacement at dealership... guess I'll shop around before I let my insurance company scam me.

Definitely call around. My friend got one that says "Toyota" on it installed for around $200 or $225 from one of those mobile companies. It pays to call around because you will save money. You will find out there is a huge price range people will tell you!!!

Price will depend where you live also.
