I am going to get my Camry in for pink-slip (for rego) and while i am there i am going to get its regular service. :)

I am going to ask them to get the handbrake fixed or tighted. because it doesnt hold the car very well, and thus i cant do handbrake stops (ie: locking the rear wheels  )

also the car feels a bit sluggish, both off the line and overtaking.
i suspect the Throttle Body needs cleaning (because it has never been done in its 10yr life :p: ), ill get them to do that, unless someone else has another idea about what this problem could be?

yeah

so i should get a Throttle Body clean then? :D

since it has never been done in 10yrs, would you think i would feel a difference after it is done? also how much does something like this cost?

other than that, it has had regular servicing, (ie: oil change, air filter, oil filter, etc etc). I also replaced the Radiator and the Alternator. :) so everything else should be running fine.

Yeah, I say get it clean. However, I don't know how much it would cost. I get the family discount where I go, so I couldn't tell you. But if your lossing major power, it's worth it to try at least.

Check the filter lately?

yeah ill get them to clean it, it shouldnt be too expensive

i havent checked the filter, it shouldnt be that, because it has always been this sluggish (it has gotten a little bit worse now) since i bought it, 2yrs ago.

and I highly doubt the previous owner would have cleaned the throttle body knowing him :p:

You should probably get new sparkplugs too if they've never been changed.

* I always get a laugh out of you Aussies calling it a "Bonnet"

maybe i should have been more specific about what ive done in the beginning  me bad.
buying the car 2 years ago, the first thing we did was to get it fixed up. If i recall correctly we changed the plugs, bearings, timing belt, alternator, and some other belt :p:
and then the other month the radiator aswell.

from then on it has gotten regular service, eg: oil change, oil and air filter change, etc etc. :D

other than getting the throttle body cleaned. is there anything else i should check that i have missed out above?

just a question..

when u get ur TB cleaned with those TB cleaners in spray cans.. do u have to change ur oil after?
i would think so right?
 That doesn't make sense...

Your throttle body controls the amount of air allowed into the engine, it has nothing to do with your oil.

ok, i dont know if this is related to my above problem or not. :hammer:

but for some reason about 75% of the time when i floor the car at an intersection (ie: pedal literally hits the floor), the car will accelerate at a slow pace (just like if i were not flooring it and driving normally),
however the other 25% of the time, the car jumps off the line and you accelerate very fast  (which i assume is normal when flooring it  )

so would the throttle body being dirty have anything to do with this aswell? or is there some other possibility that could be there?

WOW!

Ok, replacing the bottom end. crank, main bearings, end bearings, journel bearings, rods, and main bearing caps.

Can we say, full re-build?

haha, do some research.

i dont think the engine needs rebuilding , it wasnt that badly taken care of :p:
i would say it is more of general wear and tear type of thing :D

ok, ill clean the throttle body and see if that fixes the problem
but if the problem persists i will........i dont know
