so i just got back from my wonderful trip to the dealership for my truck. they couldnt figure out the not starting issue (of course) and i complained about my shifting lately, so they checked that out and realized my slave master cylinder needs to be replaced. what the hell????? this truck has 24,000 miles on it and i dont know what im gonna do when the warranty runs out and problems keep coming?

heres the list so far:
Front main leak
leaf spring tsb
slave master cylinder failure
toyota toolbox broke
tailight seal broke
while replacing the front main dealer broke the radiator fan
and im sure there is more i just cant think of right now.

That suck no problems here......:hammer:
damn man, from what i hear there are alot of fucked up 05's, i say get it fixed, or at least the best that it can be, and trade that bitch in on a new one, or a used 06, or something....
Avenger, it doesn't do anyone any good to share that you're not experiencing any problems in a thread where a guy is venting about his lemon of a truck and getting shafted by the dealer. You probably didn't mean anything by it, but think about what you say from the other guy's perspective before you post. I see that a lot on here when people talk about problems with their trucks.

Jredneck, it sounds like the employees were all smoking crack or the assembly robots were on the fritz when your truck was being built. Absolutely sucks. You may want to get the dealer to fix everything you can and sell it for something new before the warranty period expires. With the resale value on these things, you should come out pretty well.
One bit of info I can give. No matter what state you live in or which manufacture you purchased from your not totally screwed after the warranty date. So long as the vehicles maintenance/failure records have each of your reported issues the manufacture has to service those problems if they surface for one year after the warranty date. To be clear, it can be for only the warranted problems reported and documented by a authorized service center.

I can back this up from 3 different vehicles. This is generally not a policy the dealerships will tell you but there are laws in place for this exact situation. Hopefully you won't have to go that far, because it's a major PIA.
ive been thinking bout trading it in, the only thing is that im a college student and the payments i have now are awesome so i dont know how much more i could afford
It may be worth to try to see what kind of options available for you if you trade it in. For me having as many problem you've experienced I would not even dream of keeping the truck any longer than before the warranty ends. Like someone has mentioned the resale value of the truck is very good. You might end up with the same monthly but with a newer truck. It doesn't hurt to ask.
JRedneck- after thinking about it. I would get the dealer to do what they will for free. Then sell it private party since you are in no hurry. Then take that money to both pay off your current loan and make a down payment. That's seriously what I think Iwould do after rethinking this... get an '06 used and you should be fine...

Avenger, I have to second what Fluxoholic was saying... I'm sure you didn't mean anything, but if I was JRedneck and someone posted that, rest assured I would take it the wrong way...
i feel for you man. i to have an 05 but have not had a single problem with it except one of the mud flaps ripping after a snow storm we got here. i just think it sucks how it seems like there is such a hit and miss formation with these trucks. one guy with an 05 has a ton of problems with his but then another guy has more problems with his 06 then a guy with an 05.hope everything works out with your truck man.

thanks man, yeh i would really love to keep this truck, besides the problems it has had i love this truck. u dont see many reg cab 4x4's around here and mine will def be the only lifted one where i live so i hope this is the last problem
Keeping in mind. When you bag on your truck, things are bound to fuck up.

Just take it easy on the old girl.

when im in the mud it tends to hit around 8000
And like someone else said, buying a car right after a redesign on it, its also bound to have problems, toyota or not.

yeh i should prolly be easier to it, but thinking it was a toyota i could do this kind of stuff to it, since i used to beat the hell out of my 2000 prerunner and never had a problem with it, i guess theses new ones cant handle it.
These trucks are way more fragile than older Toyota pickups.

Just look at the sheet metal, it's foil. You can't rely on Toyota truck "toughness and reliability" as much as we used to. Times change.

I wish I could treat this truck like a true truck, but you can't. It's more like a car than a truck to me.

I will tell you right now, these trucks have a mind of their own.

I treat mine with respect and never beat on it.
Here's some info by Consumers Reports on why you should wait for the second model year of production. I love my 2006, I'm glad I waited.

Consumer Reports' auto-reliability surveys show that most newly designed models have more problems during their first model year than in the model year before or in the model years that follow. First-year models continue to have more problems as they age. Our advice: Wait one or even two years before buying a new design until the manufacturer has had a chance to work out the bugs.

Ask for a meeting w/Regional Manager

I had a '99 Ranger. I had 26 warranty repairs in under 18 mths with the Ranger. I firmly requested a sit down with a Ford Regional Service Rep. I explained I wanted Ford to either exchange my vehicle for a similarly equipped new one or give me a full bumper to bumper extended 5 yr/75,000 mile warranty. They elected for the later. And I used it and used it and used it. I kept the truck until the warranty expired. In the end I had close to 40 repairs. Ford had have lost money on my deal. Each time I brought the truck in they would have to keep the truck for a day or two and place me in a loaner.

If I were you I would have a calm heart to heart with the dealership and request that they arrange a meeting with the regional rep in your area.

Good luck.

Check your manual for the Florida Lemon Law information
If your truck is in the shop more than 30 days total or more than 3 times to fix the same problem they have to refund your money.

did it with a Land Rover and they refunded my money completely, and if you had a trade in they have to return the value in cash., if you want more info on what I did let me know
where you gonna go from here?? theres nothing else in the running..??

the thing is that it hasnt been in the shop to fix the same problem, its all different problems!!! im just gonna hope after this repair that it will be the last because i really want to keep this truck
If its different problems then it would have to be 30 days accumulated shop time.
Hope the repairs come out ok....good luck
