I really don't want to break the plastic, so I am inquiring about getting the pieces around the radio off. Are they just clipped in? I got the right side out, but the left side has some resistance, just want to be sure before I try to pull on it.

yeah the whole trim is held on by clips. the position of the clips on the right side of the trim isn't at the same height as the ones on the left. just pull outward and try your best not to break the trim.

iirc, 2 cips at the top, 3 on the right and 3 on the left.

...btw its just one big peice of trim that goes around the radio and the hvac control... cause yuu said "peice of trim around the radio"

Exactly. On a 92-96 you just remove the trim around the radio with a flat head and disconnect the cig lighter. Then MAGNATIZE your screw driver so you don't lose the screws that hold the radio in. 4 Screws, and it's out.

Yup. Discovered this after losing all four screws and breaking most of the clips trying to yank, assuming it was like my 97

^ I only lost 2 screws taking the radio out of my 94 a few times. Then I got some phillips screws at the hardware store and a locking screwdriver (Craftsman at Sears) and haven't lost one since. The screws are still in there somewhere. Not worth taking the car apart to find them.

On the 92-96 the clips are on the sides right near the bottom. If you pull the bottom of the panel near each side with something like a dental pick or a J-hook the panel pops out without breaking.
