Greasing the Slip Joint

1468 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Splicer
It's been mentioned but not (afaik) clarified -- there is no zerk on the driveshaft slip joint, and the 'bump' some of us feel after stopping may be caused by binding due to insufficient grease from the factory.

So, who has taken theirs apart to grease it -- and what did you torque the bolts to during reassembly?

Has anyone drilled/tapped/installed a zerk in the slip joint?

I'm not sure if this applies to 2wd trucks, but 4x4s have 2-piece rear shafts with slip joints, and no zerk.
