Green A/C light not coming on...why?

Nobody has any ideas????

Open the hood and see if the compressor cycles on.

the bulb could simply be burnt out....like stated above check and see iof the compressor comes on...the indicator bulbs do burn out over time, but it doesnt affect performance of the function they control....the bulb is also easy to replace too

Is the green LED for the A/C button easy to replace? Its the one when you push the button in. I thought that one is soldered into place? I hope thats the problem because last time I used my A/C in like September it was working fine.

pull out the HVAC controls and do a bulb switcharoo.. takes 2 mins

If it's cold outside you can still test your A/C. Switch to recycled air and turn on the heat until your car is warm. Once your car is nice and warm, turn on your A/C and turn the tempature switch to cool. If your a/c is working, the car should start recycling cold air. This will help you determine whether your a/c is working or not, or is it just a simple light bulb issue

the a/c light is led, shouldn't go out that quickly. and yes, its soldered in, and no its not easy to replace. like the others said, check the compressor and make sure your a/c actually works.

for future reference, all the button lights and symbol back lighting (Recirculate, A/C, Defrost) are leds, the outer rings are incandescent bulbs. i've replaced those leds to blue and red, and its not easy. took a little tinkering around to figure out how to get them apart.

if it is indeed the LED thats out, i have a spare gen 5 hvac controls... i'll post up a diy this weekend if you need it.

Is the compressor underneath the alternator? How exactly do I check to see if it works? Can you distincivley hear it when the engine is running?

Would the light really have anything to do with not coming on if the compressor or another part of a/c system is not working?

Did you read my post? Why don't you do a simple test to see if your ac is working or not.

Oh crap, I skipped right over that one, my bad. I'll try that.

My buddies' went out not too long ago and his was just the bulb. Hopefully that is the case for you because that is the cheapest route.

How did he go about replacing it? Did he do it himself or have the dealership do it or someone else?

^^ Update: brought it in to toyota this morning and they diagnosed the problem. Somehow my A/C fuse behind the panel was missing. It wasn't blown. It was completely missing. Real weird! I was tinkering around with my head unit the other day because I had to remove my sirius and ipod interface adapter so it could of happened then but I never distinctively took them out. To bad I couldn't figure out the problem myself and had to pay toyota $60 to figure it out. I should have thought of that before that it could of just been a fuse. DUH! But oh well, im just happy that it's not a major problem. Thanks for everyones advice and input though.
