1993 Paseo. Behind the glove box are two green relays. part number starts:28300-10010. One is clicking wildly. Any idea what they control. I haven't been able to find anything not working. Hopefully my broken A/C
Thanks

I don't usually answer my own questions. I guess actually I do more often than I think;) The relays are connected to the starter. At least one of them is. I've never seen anything like it. I'm wondering if maybe my igniton switch, which is a little "loose" might be shorting a contact and sending power to the relays. There are at least 4 wires in each relay so there is more circuitry than I think. Anyway in case anyone else has ever experienced this.

I dunno really, but by default a relay is at LEAST 4 wires, two going in, and those turn on two more with magnet, maybe ur magnet is stuck, try getting another relay from under hood and swap them, see if it clicks same way. You might be able to even start car, with relays removed, or at least crank it if starter relay works. Relays of same type are innerchangable, they just click on or off, and they are all 12 volt in paseo/tercel. If its clicking might just be relay, might be damaged wire. its most likely damaged at the where they contact something else. I suggest also applying Dieelectrical grease to the those connections, and relays. I had a relay rusted through on my car, it still worked fine though, they are quite durable. If it is a short, u will have to go over your wires or take it to a mechanic, its tough to find a short.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the responses guys. I have determined that with one of the relays unplugged the car will not start. The other relay has something to do with the dashboard lights. This year model has a Toyota security built into it with Horn defeat and valet mode. The previous owner who I know at this point just flipped the car told me he "removed" that system. There is such a spagetti bowl of wires under my dash that have been soldered, lines added, or unplugged, I think I have a real mess on my hands. I am curious about one of the wire bundles that are unplugged. It's white and there are 4 heavy duty fusible link wires connecting the two. I thought about trying to reconnect but it seems like there isn't enough wire there to bend them enough to make that connection. I'll try and post a picture later. Right now I'm driving the car and unplugging the relays as they start clicking which they didn't do my last 12 mile drive home?.... The search continues. I have a pretty good Toyota OEM repair manual but following electrical has always been hard for me.
