Guy Hit My Parked Camry

So long story short, I was parked in a parking lot and was walking out of the store when I see a guy on his cell phone back straight into the corner of my car. I have all the witnesses and already put in a claim. Things wrong with the car now is no tail light, scratched up bumber, trunk lid is off now, there is a dent in the quarter panel, the wires were cut from the glass in the tail light and the hole where the taillight goes in the car is seperating from the metal on the inside of the trunk. I was just wondering what you guys think about how much damage you think has been done. My insurance company is towing it tomorrow since there is no taillight.

Damn that sucks. But at least you have witnesses and got a claim started! They're gonna eat his ass alive.
I just think the insurance company will call the car a total loss and give me the kbb value.
Thats a good deal then...coz the KBB values are always 10-20% higher than the actual value of the vehicle :)
haha. im thinking if im gonna need a new bumper, trunk lid, fixed quarter panel, rear lip, taillight...thats alot of shit. And has anybody heard of the color of my car? it is a silver talc metallic according to the stealership
I'd be surprised if that was totaled out. It doesn't look that bad. Wouldn't be hard to fix if you take to a good shop.
Yeah. When things like that happen in my family, we take the money, fix it ourselves for a LOT cheaper and then keep the change!
Welll that sucks. I've see A LOT worse though.

Your color is either 6L3 or 1A0 as says http://www.toyotareference.com/camry#CA97
It doesnt look that bad in the pic but if you look at the inside of the trunk it is a lot worse. And my insurance is being gay and taking the car to one of their shops locally and i know they charge a fortune
That doesnt look to bad but it will probally get totaled. Quarter panel damage is just ridiculously priced to get fixed.

If its the other guys insurance paying for it, push and fight to get it totaled.
Especially cause the dude was on his cell phone.. you should be able to get a good deal to get the car fixed up.

It's a shame your insurance company is towing it to a body shop to get it fixed/totaled.
Hit-and-run. Be sure to call the police so they can file charges.
I'd say it pends where you take it. A used light, paint materials is $350, rest is labor so $800 to $1100. Not totaled would be my guess.

Dumb @ss people not paying attention. . . Sucks!
It wasnt a hit and run. and my insurance company said they r going to try and get my $500 deductable back and they said if they do replace any parts on my car they must be new to ensure that there is no damage remaining..

Oh yeah, of course, remember my car last year? And it got repaired :)

I'm guessing not totaled as well. When I see shit like this I always remember the Allstate "Mayhem" commercial where the guy is supposed to be an "OMG teenage girl" and bashed the poor Saturn in the mall parking lot.

Dude, you should pay 0$ deductible since it wasn't your fault. What does the police report say?? I would ask if the body shop can get OEM used parts. And that trunk lid is repairable, mine is the factory one, they simply repaired it since there was no frame damage to it. And it lines up better than it did before the collision! I would have the shop check the torsion bar on the trunk as well as the screws securing it in place, those might have broken! (but it looks like a low speed impact, I doubt they did).
The car is getting towed today and hopefully my insurance will call me today. The only thing that i think might be a little problem is that the wires for the taillights have been cut from the taillight itself and that the metal is not welded together anymore. The trunk lid might as well be replaced cuz the guy made the toyota emblem fall off (LOL) and broke the seal on the plate in the back. idk. ill kep u guys posted

^Unless the actual frame for the trunk lid is bent, then it's workable. Look at the damage to the trunk lid on my car last year, and they re-used it.

I think it will depend on the insurance company and how much the car is worth compared to cost of repairs. If the repairs cost more than half the value most will total it. My friend's 95 Corolla had pretty minimal damage about like yours, but since the unibody side panel was bent they totaled it, as the car was only worth around 2 grand.

In MI, it's 75% of the car's value. What are insurance regulations in your state? They dictate 50% of the car's value?

EDIT: Something else to bear in mind, the insurance adjuster WON'T give you KBB value for the car. Last year, me and the body shop talked about it as an option. The car was worth 3500-3600$, but the adjuster would have given me only 2500$, as the car was considered "accidented". They give you money for as-is condition, not the condition in which it was prior to collision. The choice was clear, the body shop presed on and I got the car back repaired.
