Alas my 2006 doesnt have the bluetooth hands free feature. Its the law over here you cant even TOUCH your phone while driving. Too many crappy drivers I guess. Anyhow our 12v outlets are literally buried in their compartments!
Does anyone has a solid solution for this? I want to keep the stock sound system. I was thinking about buying THIS:

What's wrong with the 12V outlet?
Does your car have Aux in port?

I highly recommend the BTC480 off Amazon. I've had both the 450 and 455 and well worth the extra money. I'd also suggest a ground loop isolator. The bluetooth transmitter uses the aux port and power recepticle in your arm rest and I attached the remote near the gear shift to control music and calls. It's easier and in a more natural position there than on the steering wheel. No problems in over 6 years with either unit. It's on all the time the power's on, you don't have to turn it on every-time you want to use it. I've used many of the FM transmitters and the sound quality is no where near the ones that use the Aux port. If you are set on getting an FM transmitter I'd recommend the GOgroove FlexSMART X2.

The front 12v in my car is DEAD. :( So the one under the armrest is ok. The one I dont really need of course. Im trying to find a fix to get the front one up and running. Alas there is very little info on it.

Well if the power receptacle in the arm rest works and a have an AUX port in the arm rest, the BTC480 is your best option for audio quality and ease of use. If you do not have a working power receptacle, there are many rechargeable BT AUX out adapters. I used one for a while until my power outlets were fixed. The adapter worked without charging for about 12 hrs and I used it like that for a week.

I'll throw in a recommendation on your phone mount as well. I've used over a dozen thru the years and this one works perfect on a 3rd gen Avalon. It's lower than the dashboard and not an obstruction.
