I was currious if anyone had any good rec's on a new head unit for my tC. I want to start installing a new sound system , but not sure what head unit to get. I dont want a LCD movie display unit. Just something fairly flashy with a digital display with a remote.
If you could list web links to your rec's if ya have them that would be awesome! Thanks everyone!

He is talking about JL Audio Subs here I assume. The 10 is the size of the sub (10"). The W3 is the series of the sub, and the V2 refers to the sub being dual voice coil. These are very good subs. In fact, I have one 12W3V2 in my tC. I went with one to save space which is why I have a 12, and it works well. I am running a mono block JL Audio amp with the sub and running it at 2 Ohms. Hits hard, but not car shaking apart hard. I am not into that anymore I guess. Used to be, but now I am into sound quality. I kept all the stock speakers with this sub, and they keep up well. The treble is still good, and I don't plan on replacing them now that I know what it sounds like overall. If they blow I will, but not until then. Just my opinion though. Later.

Yea I plan on keeping all the stock speakers in till I blow them as well. I want to snag 2 10's though. I dont use the trunk area at all. Maybe a gym bag or a few groceries but thats about it.

2AZ-FE thank you for the input on the subs... I was truly lost. When all is said in done, my car should be pretty grip. Thanks for the advice again.

Anyone got a idea on a good cost est. for the JL 10's? Let me know! I 'll research them as well as others. Thnx

I think that I spent around $185 on one 12" sub, so I would say that you could get 2 10" subs for about $300 or so. I am not sure though. I don't know current prices on subs very well. That should be somewhat close though I would think. That is for the W3 series. You could go with a cheaper series and save some money, but I would stick with dual voice coil if I were you. They sound better and you can run more power to them.

Hey 2AZ-FE

My stero place says they cant intstall my deck unit for my car cause they dont make anything for it yet. Do you know if there is a dash kit that works and a harness for the back... please reply ASAP with the detailed info if you know so I can get it to do my install.

I would think some sort of a Toyota Dash kit and harness would work.. need help fast please help.

Hey BlackCherry tC,

I have not looked for anything to install an aftermarket head unit in the car. I am not sure if he is correct or not. I would not be surprised if they did not have a kit done yet for the car since it is so new. You could look for something that would fit the xA or xB. They may have a kit for that car, and they all hold the save stereo from the factory. The only thing that I am not sure of is the mounting. It may be slightly different in the other scion models and not work for the tC. As far as a wiring harness, I don't know what to tell you. I would call around to some of the bigger stereo stores to find out if they know of anything right now. You may have to wait until they make a kit. You could look on the internet also for something. Try crutchfield.com. Other than that, I am not sure what to tell you. I am running the factory deck, so I did not have to deal with this. Sorry, I am not much help here.
