I hear sooo many people dissing pacesetter headers, and then i see once in a while someone who bought them and doesn't have a problem with them at all.
Curious on what toyota pickup owns reviews on them are, please share.

Any header will be louder than the stock cast iron exhaust manifold because its made of thinner material, so it will be louder. a friend of mine just put a new engine with a mid range cam and a downey header in his 86 4Runner and it sounds real good.

When I put a thorley tri-Y on my old 2wd truck, I had to take it for a rip with the open header (on a cammed 20R-headed 22R). It was incredibly loud, and I don't think there was a piece of tin on the truck that wasn't rattling.

I don't understand what you are saying lol "I put a thorley tri-Y on my old 2wd truck, I had to take it for a rip with the open header"

haha, ok.

I never understood why people use header wraps to keep thier engine compartment cooler, when in my opinion it is going to get your headers hotter since there is no air flow, in which will make the engine hotter.

Most headers are coated to be left the way they are. Doug Thorley will VOID any responsibility if you use header wrap on any of theirs.. they are made to release the heat. the wrap keeps that trapped in.

Heat wrap is used to keep the engine bay cooler - the pipes do not cool the engine; that's the job of the radiator. You want all the exhaust heat out of the engine bay as soon as possible.
Your exhaust manifold or header can be ceramic coated, which drastically reduces the under-hood temperature.

in theory, hotter exhaust gases flow faster and easier. since we are running a fairly low revving engine (by todays standards) its really not much of an issue. but anything that keeps the engine bay cooler is a bonus. for years header wraps were the only choice. todays ceramic coated exhaust is superior in every way except price. and the price keeps dropping.

does anybody have any dyno data on headers? you see alot written about them but where is the data?

I have 2 sets of pacesetters..they are cheap for a reason...but they do the job. I would suggest what ever you buy, get them coated or wrap them. The wrap is the best thing I ever did. I would also get a good exhaust gasket. The factory style seals better. I had to remove the heat shield from the gasket to clear the header flange. The stock studs worked, but I turned them around and used brass nuts.
