So I was in a wreck a couple of weeks ago and needed to replace my headlights. I couldn't afford to by the HID lights so the guy working on my car said to buy the cheaper halogen lights and he can "convert" it to an HID like I had before ( note: I had no clue or still don't have a clue what the terms he was using meant or still means). Anyways I went for that option and now I have the auto headlight leveling check light in my dashboard. The manual says to go the dealer but after reading what others with similar issues on here said happened when they went to the dealer, I am scared they might charge me money i do not have.
I guess my questions are;
1. Is what the guy at the body shop said about "converting" Halogen to HID feasible and what does it even mean?
2. Is this why I have the light on my dashboard?
3. What can I do about it at this point?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
( the automatic headlight leveling check light comes on after turning the car to ON and then disappears for a little bit. It eventually comes back on and stays on after a few seconds)

The new light probably lacks the auto leveling mechanism so if the system doesn't see it, the light warns you there is a problem. What year is your car?
I think you are right. Talked a brother of my regular mechanic who said the same thing. The halogen headlights don't come with the automatic leveling motor so to get rid of the light in the dashboard he advised to just buy the motor and hook it up to the right cables and attach it to a structure in the hood. I really don't need the automatic leveling function after I realized what it meant but the light in the dashboard was annoying me. It's 2006 Toyota Avalon limited edition by the way. Thanks for the helpful feedback

I have a 2005 Toyota Avalon Limited, and I never use the automatic headlights, but this light just came on out of no where today. Occasionally, when the vehicle is in drive it will turn off, and then back on. Is there an issue with my headlights or suspension? I ask about suspension, because reading up on it, it makes it sound like it’s in the suspension.
