you have to pry the top strip off first and you must remove the handle on the inside then it comes out. but be very careful cause the clips that hold it on are a pain
Camry Wagon - REAR PANEL
You should get a body panel tool from your local parts store.
The panel is mounted with about 8 to 12 spring clips.
Each clip looks like a squashed V that surrounds a flat plastic tab about 1/2" wide and 1/2" long.
The tabs are fragile. They will snap if you don't pull the panel straight out.
My rear panel broke off. I noticed that broken tabs all snapped at a specific point. Before I reassembled the panel, I reinforced ALL of the plastic tabs using silicone window cement. Then I slid the V shaped clips over the plastic tabs and pushed them into the metal slots.
At the bottom, on either side of the latch, I drilled a 5/32" hole and set a self-tapping metal screw. Without the screws, the panel would probably break loose again.
To prevent the panel from cracking I ran several beads of silicone glue on the inside of the panel. :ugh3:
